For the first time, Point of Honor will celebrate Christmas during the Late Victorian Era. Queen Victoria of England ruled from 1837-1901 and the Late Victorian Era is generally considered to be 1880-1900. This was a time of great change in America, with telephones and electricity becoming wide spread in urban areas along with street cars and better access to shopping and services.
This month, the Museum will exhibit a portion of its antique map collection. A variety of historic maps will be on display including 1891 map of West Lynchburg, 1912 Campbell County map, 1945 map of downtown businesses, and a 1930s book of Sanborn fire insurance maps for Lynchburg.
Please join us for a program on caring for antique textiles by Colleen Callahan. This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibit A Feast for the Eyes: Quilts and Textiles from Central Virginia. The light refreshments will be served and the exhibit will be open for tours following the presentation.
Free admission today at Point of Honor!
As part of “First Friday,” the Museum will exhibit tools from the antique tool collection.
